Title: Face First

Title: Face First

Description: This young bison was seen foraging with its head buried in the snow, searching for food. Bison primarily feed on grasses, weeds, and leafy plants, spending up to 11 hours a day foraging. Their large shoulder hump helps them clear snow by swinging their heads side to side, creating patches for foraging, especially during winter. Despite poor eyesight, bison have keen senses of smell and hearing. They communicate with grunts, especially cows and calves, while bulls bellow during mating season. Bison, the largest mammals in North America, can weigh up to 2,000 pounds for bulls and 1,000 pounds for cows, with calves weighing 30-70 pounds at birth.

"Face First" is part of the Limited Edition Collection: Into the Wild - Intimate Encounters.
