Title: Reflections of Waŋblí

Title: Reflections of Waŋblí

Description: The word for bald eagle in Native American Lakota is waŋblí. The waŋblí — eagle — is an important winged symbol for the Lakota people. The eagle is the strongest and bravest of all birds. For this reason, Native Americans have chosen the eagle and its feathers as a symbol of what is highest, bravest, strongest, and holiest. This image was taken of Revillagigedo Islands (lots of them!) of the Tongass National Forest, on the George Inlet waterway. Bald Eagles are everywhere you look here, they rule the skies. These glassy waters are rich with life, likely why there were so many birds of prey!

"Reflections of Waŋblí" is part of the Limited Edition Collection: The Master's Canvas - Nature's Landscape.
